Creative Commons Licenses

With this issue of Issues in Science and Technology Librarianship, we have begun to license articles using Creative Commons licenses.

Creative Commons licenses are internationally recognized as allowing wide use of creative works while protecting creators' rights. The license we anticipate being most commonly used is CC-BY:

This license lets others distribute, remix, tweak, and build upon your work, even commercially, as long as they credit you for the original creation. This is the most accommodating of licenses offered. Recommended for maximum dissemination and use of licensed materials.

Authors who prefer a more restrictive license may select one of the other options.

ISTL has always been committed to open access and retention of copyright by authors. Creative Commons licenses allow us to continue that commitment while using a widely recognized standard.
